Stunning Ocean View Luxury Home in Escaleras Dominical
Located in the mountains of Escaleras in the secure, gated community of Marina Vista 2, you are approximately 1 mile from the ocean at an 850 ft (259 m) elevation overlooking the quaint fishing village of Dominicalito Bay and Tree Island. You’ll be within minutes of waterfalls, beaches, and all manner of tropical amenities and adventures. Or, stay home and relax in your very own infinity pool where you can literally see whales breaching in the ocean and watch monkeys, sloths, and toucans (to name a few) frolicking in the jungle trees around you.
This 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom forever home with 3500 ft2 inside has a staggering 6800 sq. ft of indoor/outdoor living space. Constructed in 2016 and practically new, each part of this house prioritizes not only efficiency and security, but comfort, beauty, and Costa Rica’s unique aesthetic. While it has been family-owned and never rented, it could easily generate a rental income of $500-$700 per night during the high season.
The Entrance and Main Floor
As you enter through your private hardwood gate — your driveway lined with palm trees, pineapples, and tropical flowers — the first thing you’ll notice is the house’s beautiful stone exterior, along with its matching stone carport. The roofs are finished with low-maintenance Teja Real that is designed to last forever and keep your casa cooler and more comfortable than any other type of roofing. Two oversized, hand-carved Cedro front entrance doors decorated by a gorgeous stained-glass sunset welcome you.
Upon entering the home, you are greeted by a spacious atrium featuring a luscious tropical garden. A 9ft circular opening adorns the atrium’s ceiling, allowing a gentle breeze to circulate through your home and keep it comfortably cool. Your view is then drawn straight through the house, over the infinity pool, and to the dazzling ocean below. The main living area is constructed in an open-concept style and includes the atrium, kitchen, and living room.
Elegant 2 ft (60 cm) marble-accented #1 porcelain tiles from Spain span the floors of the main living area, while the tropical hardwood ceiling is created from Costa Rican Pochote and includes 8 ceiling fans and lights that brighten every corner of your home. The living room and kitchen cabinetry have been handcrafted with extremely rare Cristobol hardwood. The massive 12 ft by 4 ft (3.6 m by 1.3 m) kitchen island constructed from one giant piece of Cenizero tree (one of the largest trees in Costa Rica) serves as a captivating centerpiece for the kitchen. The kitchen’s pearl blue granite countertops and Samsung and Frigidaire brand-name appliances make preparing meals for you and your family a pleasure.
Identical Guest Bedrooms with Ocean View and Private Suite with Kitchenette
Off to either side of the atrium/kitchen are matching, hand-crafted Cedro doors leading to the perfect bedroom accommodation for visiting friends or family. Each bedroom sports an upscale king-sized bed, as well as a large, hand-crafted Cedro wardrobe closet featuring a hidden safe. Each room has its own ensuite bathroom adorned with Cedro cabinetry, white marble countertop, hand-painted sink, and exotic oversized natural stone shower. Sliding glass doors off the front of each room open out to the infinity pool and give occupants a scenic view of the jungle and ocean below.
The private suite is perfect for guests who want their own privacy, the rear atrium leads to a home within a home. This fully suited area offers a king-sized bedroom, laundry room, full kitchen, living room, bathroom (complete with matching natural stone shower), and hidden safe.
Rooftop Terrace for Superior Views
Walking through the atrium’s 10 ft (3 m) tall castle doors leads to sheltered stairs, two landings with beautiful jungle and ocean views, and two lookout ledges constructed from expensive Coralina fossil rock. At the top of these stairs is the back master rooftop terrace deck, a sprawling leisure area perfect for entertaining.
Serve your friends drinks at the round-table lounging area while they look down into the tropically planted atrium below. This area is shaded by a 10 ft (3 m) Palmex umbrella for protection from the sun and rain. The full stairs, decks, and master bedroom are all tiled in realistic shipwrecked sea wood #1 porcelain tiles out of Spain. The entire terrace is encircled by 150 elegantly hand-crafted white cement balusters and railings.
Master Bedroom and Bathroom, and Front Deck
The master bedroom is truly the soul of this paradise casa. Designed with the vista in mind, the glass sliding doors that encircle the room highlight the incredible view and make you feel as if you are vaulted over the jungle and ocean. Watch sunset after sunset in the elevated king-sized bed with its (very rare!) heart-shaped purple heart tropical hardwood headboard. This room also features two enormous, hand-crafted Cedro wardrobe cabinets and drawers. This is all cozily enclosed by a soft white Coralina wall.
The Master Bathroom gives the atmosphere of rinsing clean under a fresh tropical waterfall in the comfort of your own home. One-of-a-kind granite double sinks and a natural stone shower lend to the ambiance along with the signature hand-crafted Cedro cabinetry. Through a glass sliding door is a second outdoor natural stone shower, as well as a unique outdoor bathtub featuring oyster shell tiles and a rocked waterfall faucet. It doesn’t get any better than this! Imagine relaxing in your bubble bath and soaking in the majestic ocean and jungle views.
The captivating ocean view from your Master Deck will take your breath away. With its comfortable tropical bamboo sofa, matching chairs, and rustic hardwood coffee table, it’s the perfect place to relax in the morning with your coffee or the evening with a refreshing drink. Between sunsets, lightning shows, wildlife, and the ocean, your Master Deck gives you front row seats to Costa Rica’s natural beauty.
The Pool and Outdoor Area are Made for Entertaining
If the Master Bedroom is the casa’s soul, then the Infinity Pool is, without a doubt, its heart. This crystal blue pool will likely be where you entertain the majority of your guests while they cool off and breathe in the fresh ocean air.
The pool is just under 5ft deep and holds 12,000 gallons of water. 8 underwater bar stools (4 ocean-facing and 4 bar-facing) provide plenty of lounge seating for guests. Whether it be a late-night party or a midnight dip, luminescent glow-in-the-dark tiles and programmable Savi pool light provide the pool with a positively ethereal radiance.
The infinity pool has a top-of-the-line, energy-efficient eco pump and filtration system with an expensive ultra-violet purification system. All cleaning and testing equipment included. NO heating costs, as mother nature keeps it a perfect 82-92° F (29-33° C) year-round.
The Pool Deck is a beautiful Costa Rican natural stone and features two outdoor natural stone showers next to each guest bedroom. The area is adorned with four tropical planted garden areas and includes four one-of-a-kind hardwood pool chairs and two gorgeous matching hardwood tables.
This beautiful tropical rancho is located next to the pool. BBQ for your guests in the built-in outdoor kitchen (complete with sink and storage cabinets) or simply relax the day away in a hammock. Sturdily built with three exotic wooden Tigre posts and an expensive Palmex roof, this rancho is sunken down to pool level so you can stay social with your pool-going guests while you grill for them.
Exotic Outdoor Dining Pavilion/Yoga Studio
The casa’s most recent addition (constructed in 2020!), this tropical pavilion is perfect for outdoor entertaining and dining, or for the ultimate peaceful meditation and yoga area. Vaulted over the jungle, your guests will marvel at the ocean view while enjoying their dinner on an enormous (12 by 3.3 ft) Cenizaro table (made out of 1 slab of wood) that easily seats 10. Installed dimmer lights add to the romantic atmosphere. After dinner, enjoy a moment of serenity around the hidden, sunken fire pit while sitting in one of the pavilion’s many hanging chairs or hammocks.
The pavilion features a beautiful Costa Rican natural stone floor with 80 white cement balusters and railings that match the casa’s upper master deck. Four exotic tropical wood posts stretch up to a roof with an extra vaulted top to vent fire pit smoke.

The laundry room is located underneath the stairs leading to the master deck and bedroom. It comes fully equipped with a 3-bay sink, a new Whirlpool washing machine with an energy-efficient propane dryer, and ample shelving and storage space (including secure storage in a large, underground safe). The laundry area also houses the casa’s central vac, 3-filter water filtration system with UV light, electrical fuse box with built-in surge protectors, and the INS security system.

An H2O Splash 10-inch triple water filtration system with ultraviolet lights makes for pristine, safe drinking water. Hot water is provided by a Purasol total energy-efficient solar system with 220 electrical built-in backup (which is rarely ever turned on and used).
