Fuente Verde Eco-Friendly Village Community with a Shared Vision
Fuente Verde is a mixed-use eco-community that was created 8 years ago near the region of Las Tumbas, just minutes from the mountain town of Tinamastes. Its 60-acres are home to organic permaculture farms, aquaculture ponds, and environmentally conscious residents and visitors. Membership in the community enables you to maintain a healthy lifestyle from the vast farms of organic produce, meat, and fish. The community’s dynamic helps to sustain and support all of its members.
Fuente Verde is home to residents with a collective knowledge in the field of permaculture. Community members are versed in skills such as tropical forestry, seed preservation, earth-bag building, botany, and chocolate processing. These skills and resources are readily shared between community members and their guests. The minimally disturbed land attracts troops of monkeys and an abundance of tropical birds. Rich and fruitful soils, as well as plentiful water sources, inspired the community’s name “Green Spring”.
Cool Microclimate in Fertile Area near Las Tumbas
Las Tumbas (The tombs) has special importance to the Native American inhabitants of the area. To these indigenous people, this magical jungle sanctuary protected by the mountain ridge was the only suitable place for their people to rest. Not far from the cloud forests of the Tinamastes mountain ridge, the cool climate provides a refreshing change after a day exploring the coast. The steep jungle ridge to the east of the property is home to Costa Rica’s highest waterfall: Diamante Falls. A set of two 85 foot waterfalls conceal giant boulders and a cave outfitted for camping.
The delightful mountain towns of Tinamastes and Platanillo are just a quick trip to the main highway and offer an easy option for essentials as well as supermarkets and restaurants. Only half an hour to the south is Dominical and the stunning south pacific coast. The city of San Isidro, home to around 35k people, is twenty minutes away in the opposite direction. Fuente Verde is situated perfectly between these two main sources of goods, services, and attractions.
